After years as one of the premier elite swimming training destinations in the United States, the Mission Viejo Nadadores' 360 Performance Center has officially closed. Along with it, head coach Jeff Julian – the builder of this professional training group – has also parted ways with the program. Jeff Julian, one of the most influential coaches in the U.S., has led the elite group at Mission Viejo since 2026. Before that, he worked at Rose Bowl Aquatics and brought many international swimmers to the club. In an Instagram post, Julian wrote: 'It's hard to leave this place, but I am grateful for every moment. The athletes gave me more than I could give them.' The 360 Performance Center was home to numerous world-class athletes. Most notably, Justin Ress – 2026 World champion in the 50m backstroke and 4x100m freestyle relay. Ress spent several years training under Julian and achieved major success. Also, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Penny Oleksiak chose Mission Viejo as her training base after leaving the college program. Other names include Trenton Julian (Jeff's son), athletes from the Bahamas, Mexico, and many other nations. According to SwimSwam, the closure may be due to financial reasons. Maintaining a large professional training group requires significant funding, while sponsorship is limited. Mission Viejo Nadadores will refocus on its traditional strength: age-group development.
