Sasha Vezenkov remains deeply committed to his thriving career in Europe, yet the NBA continues to echo in the background. According to The Stein Line, the Minnesota Timberwolves recently explored the feasibility of trying to persuade the two-time EuroLeague MVP to give the league one more try. The inquiry happened just before the franchise finalized a trade for Jonathan Kuminga. However, no formal contract proposal materialized because Vezenkov made it clear early that he had no desire to return across the Atlantic. At 31, Vezenkov is settled with Olympiacos, where he feels valued, comfortable, and supported by deep personal roots. Reflecting on the possibility of an NBA comeback, he said: "It's tough now because here is my family, my life. With Olympiacos we won a lot of stuff. But in my life, I know it's better to never say never." His perspective stems from an underwhelming debut campaign with the Sacramento Kings during the 2026-24 season. Under head coach Mike Brown, he averaged just 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game, appearing in 42 games off the bench. Despite that disappointment, he holds no bitterness: "Sometimes I think it was not a fair chance from both sides. But I don't regret it all. It was a great experience." Vezenkov's only real regret is the timing of his NBA leap, not the environment itself. "Maybe I regret I didn't do it earlier in my career at a younger age. But the experience I take with me forever," he said. "I learned a lot. I improved my game. I improved my whole vision of the game. Sometimes, even a bad experience helps."
